Customs officers seized 78 high-value mobile phones, including 54 iPhones, worth hundreds of thousands of rupees, from the crew of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) Dubai-Multan aircraft.
The confiscated iPhone 16 Pro was discovered in the custody of five crew members: senior steward Faisal Pervaiz, air hostesses Nishat and Sadaf, and flight stewards Imran and Khalid Khan. Customs officers detained the crew based on prior knowledge and discovered 24 iPhones among the two flight hostesses.
Following further inquiry and identification by the arrested crew members, 54 more phones were discovered from male crew members who had called them back from their hotel following the flight. The confiscated cell phones are worth millions of rupees.
The statements of those engaged in the smuggling attempt were recorded, and while the mobile phones were seized, the suspects were permitted to return home following the investigation.
