ISLAMABAD – The Federal Ministry of Industries and Production, in partnership with provincial governments, has approved a discounted price of Rs130 per kilogram for sugar.
A conference was organized between provincial governments and sugar mill owners to determine the subsidized sugar price. According to a declaration made following the conference, there would be a Rs20 subsidy per kilogram of sugar.
This pricing will be applied at designated booths operated by sugar mills around the country.
These kiosks will open three days before Ramadan begins and will remain open until the 27th of the month, guaranteeing that consumers have enough of sugar throughout this vital time.
Sugar will be sold in smaller containers of 1-2 kg, with a maximum purchase restriction of 5 kg per national identity card.
This policy aims to assist families in managing their sugar demands while also limiting bulk purchase, which might lead to shortages.
