Pakistan is now the world’s third-largest exporter of sesame seeds.

With yearly exports over $1 billion, Pakistan has established itself as the third-largest sesame exporter in the world, according to Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain.

Over the last five years, the sesame industry has grown by 455%, demonstrating its remarkable expansion. The current yearly production is 1.119 million tons. Revenue has surged by 366% to an astonishing $1.073 billion, while export volumes have increased by 327% to reach 0.760 million tons.
The National Oilseeds Enhancement Program (NOEP), which improved the infrastructure for the sesame sector and farming, was attributed by the minister with this achievement. In order to maintain development, he underlined the significance of developing processing technologies, enhancing goods, and investigating foreign markets.

Under the Strategic Economic Framework (SEF), Pakistan and Turkey have also improved their agricultural relations. By following international Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) standards and encouraging Turkish investment in Pakistan’s livestock and agriculture sectors, both countries committed to boosting trade.

A workable strategy that prioritizes disease prevention, technology transfer, and expanded agricultural commerce would boost both nations’ economies and production.
