Donald Trump takes oath as 47th President of the United States.

Donald Trump has officially taken his oath of office as the 47th President of the United States.

US Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts took the oath on Capitol Hill. Just before noon ET (1700 GMT), Trump stepped inside the US Capitol, his hand on a Bible, and swore to “preserve, protect, and defend” the US Constitution.

The inauguration event was attended by 500,000 people. Chief Justice Roberts administered the oath to Barack Obama in 2009 and 2013, Donald Trump in 2017, and Joe Biden in 2021.

In addition, Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh delivered the vice presidential oath of office to JD Vance.

As Donald Trump entered a full Capitol Rotunda to the US Marine Band’s “Hail, America” march, hundreds of people cheered and applauded, including members of Congress, captains of the US high-tech sector, and other VIPs.
Biden and departing Vice President Kamala Harris, who lost to Trump in November, were present in the Capitol Rotunda, along with former Presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who was defeated by Trump in 2016, arrived with her husband Bill, while Michelle Obama declined to attend.

Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were met with polite applause as they approached the rotunda, while JD Vance received thunderous shouts. However, Trump fans inside the Capital One Arena booed Bill and Hillary Clinton’s entry, followed by additional whistles as former Democratic President Barack Obama appeared. US Senator Bernie Sanders was also in attendance.

As Trump’s children arrived, they were greeted with raucous ovation, with his youngest kid, 18-year-old Barron Trump, receiving the most.

Prominent tech CEOs, including the world’s three richest men—Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg—sat on stage among Trump’s cabinet nominees and family members.

Special invitations were extended to Argentinean President Javier Milei, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Chinese Vice President Han Zhengwei, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Ecuadorian President Daniel Anouk, El Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele, former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and former Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morowicki to attend Donald Trump’s inauguration.

A great number of guests from all around the world, including Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, attended Donald Trump’s inauguration event.
