IMF RSF: $1.3 billion in tranches for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD : According to Julie Kozack, director of communications for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Pakistan will get $1.3 billion in installments over 28 months under the Resilience and Sustainable Facility (RSF).

During a press conference, Kozack stated that the staff-level agreement mentions $1.3 billion for the RSF for the duration of the arrangement, subject to approval by the IMF’s Executive Board, and that access will be provided in tranches during the RSF’s lifespan.

According to her, the Executive Board authorized a $7 billion, 37-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) agreement for Pakistan on September 25, 2024.

According to her, a staff-level agreement on the First Review was achieved on March 25th, and the first review mission was completed recently. She noted that on March 25, a staff-level agreement was achieved on an RSF, or Resilience and Sustainability Facility, in addition to an agreement on the EFF structure for the initial assessment.

Once authorized by the IMF Executive Board, Pakistan would be able to access around $1 billion for that distribution under the EFF portion, which is the program’s initial evaluation.

The staff-level agreement mentions $1.3 billion for the RSF over the duration of the arrangement, which is again contingent upon approval by the IMF’s Executive Board. The access will be provided in installments during the RSF’s lifespan.
