The Multan Sultans franchise, which its new owners have renamed Pindees, has not been renewed by the PCB.
KARACHI ( PASAR) The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has released a tentative schedule for the 11th season of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL).
The season is scheduled to begin on March 26 with an opening match between the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars and the new club Hyderabad Kingsmen. A meeting was conducted with representatives from all franchisees to discuss the timetable, which will be finalized when their comments are considered.
With the inclusion of two additional clubs, PSL 11 will have practice sessions from March 22 to March 25. Traditionally, the opening match is between the reigning champions. According to reports, the Lahore Qalandars will meet the Hyderabad Kingsmen on the first day at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The matches will be contested in Lahore, Karachi, Multan, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has also confirmed matches in Peshawar. Peshawar Zalmi will play their maiden match under lights on March 28 against Islamabad United. The Qualifier 1 is set for May 2 in Rawalpindi, with the Eliminator 1 taking place the following day at Gaddafi Stadium. Eliminator 2 is scheduled for May 5 at the same location, with the final on May 10, most likely at Gaddafi Stadium.
PSL 11 will include the Lahore Qalandars, Karachi Kings, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, and Quetta Gladiators, as well as new clubs Pindees, Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, and Sialkot Stallions.
The PCB did not renew the Multan Sultans franchise, which has been renamed Pindees by its new owners. Meanwhile, the Sialkot Stallions’ owners are struggling financially, and a prospective new firm called Multan is exploring purchasing controlling shares. The problem is likely to be rectified within the next days.
